Veneer

It was hard at first to hide in plain sight
Animosity, at its best, Hiding from the light

Sometimes it is best to use light
Something that is obvious
Could be hidden in plain sight
But will they remain oblivious

Ordinary becomes complicated
Having a strong urge to lie
Version of truths, convoluted
Desire to hide stronger than to die?

…A veneer, a mask.. a way of life.

A poem I made. Inspired by Deborah Harkness’ All Soul’s Trilogy. This is my take on how Matthew feels on Diana’s way of life before they met.
